Kohima, Dec. 14 (EMN): At a time when there is power tussle among the NPF legislators and a shaky political scenario prevailing for the last two weeks here in the state capital; not far from the NPF headquarters, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) organised a public rally outside the Congress Bhavan on December 14.
Hundreds of Congress workers attended the public rally which was organised by the Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) and attended by Congress leaders from across the state.
Speaking at the rally, NPCC working president and Kohima district in-charge, P. Ayanba Aonok slammed the NPF-led DAN government for failing the Naga people during the last 15 years.
Hitting out at DAN government for its misrule and mis-governance, Aonok regretted that Nagaland is a failed state under DAN govt.
“Leave aside talking about the lack of development, we are a failed state with no salaries, no scholarships, no medicines; a land where contractors are without payments and numerous backdoor appointments are taking place.
Let us be determined and have a resolute mind to outclass the present government,” Aonok told the party workers.
The NPCC working president also compared NPF and BJP government in the same category, considering them as parties without principle and ideology.
With Rahul Gandhi being elected as the president of AICC, Aonok was hopeful that the country will have an alternative govt in the 2019 election under his leadership. He added that the educated and rural youth have started looking up on Gandhi junior.
“There will be a wind of change in the political scenario here in the state. I am sure a time will come for NPCC to rule again, and that time is not far from us with the change of leadership at the centre,” he added.
NPCC vice president Khriedi Theünuo, while slamming the instability of the DAN govt, asserted that the Congress, if given a chance by the people, will show deliver their best services for the Naga people.
However, to make the beginning for the grand old party, Theünuo felt that the party should re-strengthen itself and further reach out to the people with the vision of the congress party.
Stating that the DAN govt is responsible for lack of development, he also cornered the party for the continuous infighting among the leaders, and further undermined the inability of the present govt to perform as there has been a constant change of leadership.
Former minister and treasurer of NPCC, Seyiekuolie urged the party workers in all the districts to render their best in order to bring back the Congress party to power.
“We have witnessed the NPF-led DAN govt for the past 15 years. They have failed. And so now, it’s time for Congress to be rule again, so let us do our bit,” he stated.
Former MLA from Mon district, Lampha encouraged the party workers stating that the time is not far from Congress to be back in power again. To this, he also urged the party workers of Kohima district to spearhead in reaching out to the people of the state.
“We have seen what the DAN govt is. It is time to outclass this corrupted government for the good of the Naga people,” Lampha added.
KDCC president Kevi Vizo said that it is only Congress party which can save Nagaland, while he stated that reformation of the party should start from Kohima district.
He went on to say that “Nagaland will be at loss if we elect the present leaders of DAN again. DAN govt has become a govt of agitation.”
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Zacharia, PCC member of 11 Northern Anagmi-II Constituency said the rally was to strengthen and bring unity among the Congress party before the next election.
“If we desire to bring back congress to power, let us change the mindset of the people to join congress in order to vote out the most corrupted DAN govt in the 2018 general election,” he said.
