Nagaland houses represent ‘Mini Nagaland,’ says Governor

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 4: State Governor PB Acharya said Nagaland houses outside of the State represent “Mini Nagaland” representing the rich socio-cultural traditions to the outside world. Interacting with officials and staff of Nagaland House Kolkata on November 2 at Salt Lake, on his way to Gangtok, Sikkimm to attend the annual meeting of NEZCC, the Governor called on them to live by the dictum so as to promote social harmony amongst the general citizens of India. He also urged them to maintain discipline and punctuality at work and live by the principle of ‘Work is Worship.’ Stating that they (officials) are the ambassadors of the State, he exhorted the officers and staff to go beyond their duties and take responsibilities together to share about the State and Northeast people, culture, tourism and many more opportunities in the region to other countries. Governor said Nagaland houses are the welfare centre of the Nagas and all the staff are representing the sorrow and happiness of the State in Kolkata. He also directed the Deputy Resident Commissioner (DRC) to help in providing Prime Minister’s Welfare Schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)- a scheme of zero balance account, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)- accidental insurance scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)- one rupee a day life cover policy schemes with minimum premium. Earlier, Acharya also extended Diwali greetings and distributed sweets to the staff of Nagaland House and stressed the importance of observing all religious festivals like Diwali, Christmas etc. with equal zeal so as to strengthen the social fabric of our society. DRC Arenla, on behalf of the staff of Nagaland House, thanked the Governor for initiating such a memorable interaction with all the staff including the Grade IV staff. She added that this was a first of its kind meeting involving the head of the State.
