- DIMAPUR — The Political branch of Home
Department has sought nomination for Padma Awards to be announced on the
occasion of Republic Day 2026.
- It informed that nomination should be sent in both hard and
soft copy. It added that nomination should be made in the prescribed format
strictly adhered to the statutes and rules relating to the awards.
- It also stated that nomination received after June 5 would
not be considered for inclusion in the screening committee meeting.
- The Padma awards namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and
Padma Shri are among the highest civilian awards of the country. Instituted in
1954, those awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic Day every
year.
- The award seeks to recognise 'work of distinction' and is
given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields/
disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social
work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and
industry etc.
- It further informed that all persons without distinction of
race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for the awards.
