Nagaland: Heavy rainfall in next three days

Dimapur, July 19 (EMN): Nagaland is likely to experience heavy spells of rainfall and lightning strikes in the coming three days.

According to a forecast issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the entire stretch of monsoon trough is shifting northward including Northeast India.

“Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is heading towards Bangladesh and Meghalaya around July 20 for which heavy spells of rainfall is expected over the Northeast region, including Nagaland. Flood situation may worsen again due to the rise in the level of river Brahmaputra.

“Strong monsoon activity such as incessant rains, squally weather and lightning strikes is expected during this period in the coming week, which will get intense between July 20 and the 22nd for which the public are advised to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period,” read the advisory.

It suggested all the DDMAs and the other line departments who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities to be prepared to save lives and properties during this period.
