Nagaland health minister rubbishes report that 22 MLAs were detected with Covid-19
Dimapur, Aug. 7 (EMN): The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, on Thursday rubbished rumours that more than a dozen Nagaland Legislative Assembly members were tested positive for Covid-19 and warned of taking legal action against those spreading fake news.
“News circulating in social media that 22 Legislators have tested +ve for Covid-19 today (August 6) is absolutely false and baseless. In these times, people should not take advantage of the situation and spread rumours without ascertaining facts,” the minister tweeted.
“Such unbecoming actions only fuel speculations and fear to the general public. Be warned that spreading false rumours will invite legal actions as per provisions of law. Let us all work together to allay the fears of the general public,” he added.
A source from the Medical department also refuted the claims of 22 legislators being tested positive for Covid-19, saying that there was no such report.
