Nagaland Health minister appeals for public support to contain Covid pandemic
Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, on Saturday appealed to the citizens of Nagaland to extend their co-operation and support during the total lockdown period being imposed to contain the spread of second wave of Covid-19 in the State.
“I truly understand the inconvenience that the citizens will undergo during the course of lockdown. However, it is pertinent to mention that the decision was taken after considering the health safety of our people. Now, it is the responsibility of all the concerned citizens to help the Government, the Department of Health and Family Welfare and frontline workers to co-operate in this battle against the pandemic,” wrote Phom.
Stating that the first wave was effectively managed through collective effort, he lauded the contribution of health workers, frontliners, civil societies, churches, media, NGOs and all individuals involved along with the government. He added that the optimistic approach of the people during such crisis is truly inspirational.
‘Dear citizens, the Covid-19 is not over yet,’ he said, adding the pandemic will remain the new normal and everyone must act responsibly in the battle against the crisis.
‘We must observe Covid-appropriate behaviour and take Covid-19 vaccination to protect oneself as well as our loved ones, family, co-workers and community. I urge the people who are showing influenza-like illnesses to come forward for testing and also to co-operate with our surveillance teams in contact tracing,’ he wrote.
“Our front line workers are sacrificing everything and putting their own lives and their families at risk for the sake of saving lives of others and they need our utmost cooperation and support. Therefore, I would humbly appeal all the citizens to kindly cooperate with our Covid-19 warriors in all possible ways. Let us all continue to pray and seek God’s divine intervention and heal our land sooner than later,” he added.
