The Governor, during his one-day visit to ancestral Khonoma, said it is everyone’s responsibility to be a participant in making Nagaland a strong State. He, however, maintained that it is the educated people, particularly the youth, who should play the protagonist role to bring change in the society.

While he urged the educated people to rise up and see what should be dome the Governor said, “Be an asset to the society and not be a liability.” He then maintained that Nagaland won’t be able to progress unless the educated people seize the responsibility with the target to bring about positive change.
Upon this change, the Governor also underlined the need to introduce an education system which is socially oriented. “Our present education system is knowledge oriented, but not social oriented,” Acharya remarked. He went on to say that the universities should not only be a centre of knowledge, but also be a centre of developing the mindset and mentality. “The education system should also be able to bring out a clear idea of inspiring a sense of patriotism to the students,” he added.
He also emphasized on promoting vernacular language, which he said is the only path to initiate actual transformation in the society. “Do not get uprooted by English. What you talk is more important than the language you speak,” he said maintaining that “knowing how to speak English alone can never be considered as being knowledgeable.” The Governor also informed the gathering that he will initiate from his end to popularize and improve the standard of tribal languages of Nagaland.
The Governor also stressed on equal opportunity to every children to bring an all round development in the Naga society. “Unless people have equal opportunity of education, we will never come up,” he said while he also stressed on making education socially self conscious.
While emphasizing in uplifting the weakest section of the society, he pinned his hope about a prosperous Nagaland once the weakest section of the society is given equal care and concern.
“The strength of the chain lies in the weakest link. Similarly the strength of the society lies in the weakest poor,” he remarked.
During the visit, the Governor and his entourage first visited the Khonoma fort at Semo Khel, and later proceeded to the Lower Primary School, followed by the museum. After the formal function held at Village Council hall at Terhotsiese, the team also visited the Tragopan Sanctuary at Dzüleke.
