Nagaland has an estimated renewable energy potential of 8934.18 MW, including 182.18 MW from small hydropower, 10 MW from bio-energy, 7290 MW from solar power, and 1452 MW from large hydropower.

Nagaland’s total installed renewable energy capacity so far is 108.71 MW, with 30.67 MW from small hydro power, 3.04 MW from solar power, and 75.00 MW from large hydro power.

This was informed by the Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), G Kishan Reddy in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

Nagaland’s renewable energy capacity from small hydro power is 30.67 MW, with the potential to grow to 182.18 MW.

The state generates only 75 MW from large hydro power which has the potential to increase to 1452 MW and Nagaland’s renewable energy total installed capacity from solar power is only 3.04 MW which has the capacity to increase to 7290 MW.

The renewable energy potential in the North Eastern Region (NER) from different sources is estimated to be 1, 28, 962 MW as against 4,834.58 MW renewable capacity.

Sikkim has the highest capacity installed of renewable energy with 2338.76 MW, followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 1257.34 MW.

The estimated renewable energy potential in the North Eastern Region is 128962.49 MW, out of which Arunachal Pradesh has the highest estimated renewable energy potential with 61060.92 MW, followed by Assam with 15077.99 MW and Manipur with 12505.95 MW.
