Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): A total of 4,239 houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yoja Gramin (PMYA-G), a restructured rural housing scheme, have been completed in Nagaland, as on October 22.
According to the Nagaland Chief Minister Dashboard, 19,653 beneficiaries have registered and 16,667 houses were geo-tagged, and a sum of INR 54.444 crore was utilised from the sanctioned fund.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 20, 2016 with the target of constructing 2.95 crore houses with all basic amenities by the year 2022.
It stated that Tuensang has the highest number of houses completed with 1500 and a sum of INR 18.837 crore was utilised from the sanctioned fund while Phek and Mokokchung were at the bottom with 70 houses completed with INR 91 lakh utilised from the sanctioned fund.
Moreover, 2, 56,153 household toilets were built under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen in Nagaland and a total 1451 villages in Nagaland were declared ODF villages out of which 1142 villages were ODF verified, as on November 4, 2020.
According to district-wise distribution of household toilets built as on November 4, Dimapur has the highest with 241 declared ODF villages which includes 196 verified ODF villages, followed by Zunheboto with 191 ODF villages with 191 verified ODF villages; Wokha with 153 declared ODF villages under which 108 verified ODF villages; Mon with 138 declared ODF villages under which 69 are verified ODF villages; Tuensang with 133 ODF villages with 88 villages verified ODF villages; while Phek has declared 119 ODF villages under which 88 are ODF verified villages.
Mokokchung declared 144 ODF villages with 114 verified ODF villages, Kohima district has declared 110 ODF village with 79 verified ODF villages, Peren has declared 103 as ODF villages under which 65 are so far verified, while Kiphire has 99 ODF villages with 95 verified ODF villages and Longleng has declared 50 ODF villages under which 49 villages are verified.
According to the department of Drinking Water And Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, in 2018 to 2019, 10,70, 16,200 household toilets have been built since October 2, 2014 out of which 6,03,177 are open defecation free villages, 706 open defecation free districts, and 35 open defecation free states and union territories. Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen was launched on October 2, 2014.
