Nagaland has 12,568 SHGs

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Nagaland has a total of 12,568 Self Help Groups (SHGs) with a total of 1, 11,032 members in 74 blocks within 11 districts.

Out of 12,568 SHGs, 8,426 are new SHGs, 370 were revived and 3,772 in Pre-NRLM stage.

Meanwhile, in the state, there are 14 SHGs with less than five members and no SHGs with more than 20 members.  There are only two states in the country, Kerala with 1,728 SHGs, and Andhra Pradesh with one SHG, with more than 20 members.

According to the dashboard of the Minister of Rural Development, a total of INR 13443.78 lakh was successfully disbursed to a total number of 9474 Community-based organisations (CBOs) while 11 CBOs were rejected.

According to state-wise distribution of SHGs in Northeast region, Meghalaya has the highest number of SHGs with a total of 39,823, followed by Tripura with 34, 117, while Nagaland stands in third position with a total of 12,568 SHGs, Mizoram has 7,773, Sikkim 5,254, Arunachal Pradesh 4,553 and Manipur has the least number of  SHGs in the Northeast with 3,754.

There are 75, 85, 872 SHGs in India, spread throughout 718 districts and 6,969 blocks, with Bihar having the most, with 10, 03, 146 SHGs, followed by West Bengal with 9,50,932 SHGs, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,20,012 SHGs.
