Nagaland Guitar Ensemble participated at 5th CICGF

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]agaland Guitar Ensemble enthralled the audience during their performance at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival (CICGF)and Competition honoring Roland Dyens 2014 held from December 15 to December 19. The Nagaland Guitar Ensemble which was formed in September 2014 under the leadership of Joey Woch, a classical Guitarist and violinist himself, who runs a music school in Nagarjan Dimapur known as Joey Music Studio (JMS) participated the event with 10 member group. They were Norman Villas, MarhamoKithan, Deuel Khual, Robin Odyuo, JeevanIngti, IgangHemang, SemKapai, ZarenMhabemo and WalunibaLemtur.
14 years old Waluniba Lemtur, son of musicians Sashi and Asen from Lirmen Village won the Most Promising Classical Guitarist and won a cash prize of rupees seventy five thousand, Altamira classical guitar, gifts from Savarez, Hand crafted Trophy and Certificate in ‘Under 18 category competition.’
The Nagaland Guitar Ensemble team in a press note acknowledged Music Task force Nagaland (MTF) and the team for the financial assistance of rupees one Lac. It may be worth mentioning that after the inception of the Nagaland Guitar Ensemble, participating at the International Classical Guitar Festival was their first international Performance.
