Kohima, Jan. 26 (EMN): Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi, inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various government departments on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day held at Secretariat Plaza in Kohima. Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, along with ministers and other officials accompanied the governor.
State departments such as Sericulture, Horticulture, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Art and Culture, Nagaland Empowerment of People through Energy Development (NEPeD), Industries and Commerce, Rural Development, Agriculture and Information and Public Relations have put up stalls to exhibit their products.
It may be mention that parade contingents comprising of 1 Assam Rifles; 78 Battalion CRPF; 93 Battalion BSF Chedema; DEF Kohima; 4th NAP Battalion at Thizama; 11th NAP (IR) Battalion; 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion; Home Guards and Civil Defence; Nagaland Police Brass Band, PTS; and 14 Assam Rifles Pipe Band have participated in the Republic Day celebration.
The parade commander was Nikho Venuh, deputy commandant from 10th NAP (IR) Bn, and assisted by Kumari Ayangla Pongen, assistant commandant of 15th NAP Bn.
Cultural troupes from Angami, Khiamniungan, and Rengma tribes presented folk dance and folk songs while the Women Resource department performed a dance. TaFMA presented a folk fusion.
The Khiamniungan cultural troupe performed ‘Mei Mei Jamhang’, a dance performed praising the wealthy family who gives feasts to the villages. The Rengma cultural troupe performed ‘Ngada’, which signifies happiness and thankfulness for the harvest of the year’s toil and labour. The Angami cultural troupe performed ‘Zhazodi’, a folk song that presses on one’s desire to spend time with loved ones.
