Nagaland Governor felicitates NCC girl band members

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has expressed pride on the accomplishment of National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls band from Nagaland during the recently concluded Republic Day celebration in New Delhi and termed the feat as ‘truly inspiring’ to see the youth take on such challenges, achieve greatness and thereby inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

Ganesan stated this during the felicitation ceremony of the NCC girl band members from Nagaland who took part in the Republic Day parade 2024 held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall of Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Friday. The programme was organised by the department of Youth Resource and Sports and NCC Group, Kohima.

An update from Raj Bhavan stated that the governor has congratulated the 31 cadets from Nagaland, who demonstrated their skills and achieved their goal of participating in the parade. Stating that it is the dream of every NCC cadet to be a part of the event, he apprised that they are among the few who have realised the ambition. The governor also congratulated the parents for their support in enabling their children to achieve their dreams.

Besides, he has lauded the Nagaland government, department of Youth Resources and Sports and the North East Region Directorate of the NCC for their role and support in grooming the young cadets. He was of the opinion that such support would undoubtedly encourage the young cadets to strive for excellence in the future and become conscientious citizens of the country.

The governor reminded that it takes sheer determination and resilience to represent at a platform as grand and as prestigious as the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. He mentioned that it is a celebration of diversity, strength, and unity of a great nation witnessed by almost everyone in India and the world.

He further appreciated the 31 NCC girls contingent from Nagaland for displaying exemplary performance and dedication by carrying the flag of culture and heritage with grace and vigour for all to see during the Republic Day 2024.

Also speaking on the occasion, Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, expressed happiness to see the NCC cadets of Nagaland creating history by being a part of the first-ever NCC girls brass band to march on Kartvya path during the Republic Day parade 2024.

He stated that NCC has been playing a pivotal role in moulding and shaping the youth to become responsible citizen of the nation. He also expressed delight to witness a Naga girl namely Ruyangunuo Kense leading the Delhi police during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

Rio stated that a career in the armed forces is one of the most respected, regarded and sought-after in the country. He, therefore, urged upon the cadets to think and consider a career in the armed forces as one of their options.

Rio also complimented the parents, NER directorate, NCC Group Kohima and various units of Nagaland for giving the cadets a platform to build up their confidence. He further complimented to Youth Resources and Sports department led by the advisor for motivating the cadets by organising the felicitation ceremony.

Maj. Gen. Gagan Deep, ADG of NCC NE Region, assured that many more cadets would be given such opportunities in the near future.

Report stated that the governor gave away certificate of appreciation all the cadets.

The advisor of Youth Resource and Sports, S Keoshu, also congratulated all the participants for bringing laurel to the states. He also encouraged the young cadets to strive harder and continue to take the paths of their seniors to bring pride and honour for the state.

The programme was chaired by commissioner and secretary of Youth Resources and Sports, Wezope Kenye, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Brigadier Dipankar Saha, commander of NCC Group, Kohima.

The programme was also attended by Abhijit Sinha, principal secretary and Home commissioner along with others officials.
