Nagaland Governor extends festive greetings to Konyak, Chang, Phom communities

Dimapur, April 1 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has extended festive greetings to the Konyak, Chang, and Phom communities and the people of the state.

Conveying Aoleang greetings to the Konyak community, Mukhi said it is an occasion to pray for a bountiful harvest and reminisce the past journey through their ancient culture and traditions which are beautifully displayed during the festival.

“The celebrations aim to promote peace and progress of our society. It is important for the youth of the community to acquaint themselves with the rich customs and traditions through celebrations of this premier festival year after year. Let us safely celebrate this auspicious occasion. I wish everyone good health, happiness and prosperity. God bless Nagaland!” read the message.

Extending Kundaglün greetings to the Chang community, he said festival commemorates the completion of huts in the fields and people pray for a bountiful harvest.

“A significant part of the festival is that the celebrations provide a platform for the Youth to get acquainted with the spiritual and cultural richness of the Changs,” read his message.

The governor also greeted the Phom community on the occasion of Monyu festival where people seek blessings for a bountiful harvest.

“Love, compassion, friendship and forgiveness are the significant essence of the festival. It is important to uphold the tradition of teaching ancient customary practices to the Youth during this time,” he said.
