Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has issued a notice informing that action would be taken against those not wearing masks in public places, as mentioned in its earlier orders, and a penalty of INR 200 would be imposed every time the offence is committed.

Lamenting that many have been found without face masks in public places, in violation of the government’s directives for preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the state, the update from DIPR informed that the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and above level officers of police and assistant road safety and enforcement inspector and above level officers of Transport department have been authorised to enforce the provision.

“All the district task forces (DTFs) have been directed to take urgent steps for ensuring enforcement of the directive for wearing masks in public places by the people, and for taking action against those violating, in their respective jurisdictions,” read the directive.

The DTFs have also been asked to submit daily report of the number of persons found not wearing masks by the enforcement agencies and the total fine collected to the state-level war room.
