Nagaland government signs agreement with firm for 27 MW thermal power plant

Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): The state’s Power department has signed at least four power purchase agreements (PPAs) with different companies in solar, thermal and hydro energy generation and a biomass energy generation plant is also in the pipeline, said advisor for Power, H Tovihoto Ayemi.

He was speaking during the signing of PPA between the Power department and Fitzroy Energy & Minerals Ltd. for setting up of a 27 MW thermal power plant at Tuli in Mokokchung district, according to an update received on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayemi said that the Power department wants to encourage companies and entrepreneurs to invest in energy generation, and stated three more PPAs (excluding thermal power plant at Tuli) had been signed with different firms.

He also stated that such projects will generate employment opportunities besides enhancing much-needed power supply in the state.

Director of Fitzroy Energy & Minerals Ltd., Temjenmoa Jamir lauded the advisor of Power department for his visionary leadership and foresight as well as thanked the department officials for their support and dedicated efforts, said the update.

“He stated that results will be shown in the ground and hoped that it will be a significant addition to the growth of Nagaland,” it added.

It was informed that the PPA for the Tuli thermal power plant was signed by KD Vizo ITS, Principal Secretary, Power; V Kezo, Commissioner Secretary, Finance Department; and Temjenmoa Jamir.
