DIMAPUR — The department of Food and Civil Supplies on Thursday assured consumers that there is sufficient domestic LPG stock in the state and warned against panic buying or hoarding that could create artificial scarcity.
The assurance came after a review meeting held in Kohima to assess the availability of LPG and other petroleum products in the state, stated a DIPR update.
After reviewing the stock position, the department said there is no shortage of domestic LPG in the state and urged consumers not to panic.

It also cautioned distributors, retailers and individuals that black marketing, overpricing or unauthorised sale of domestic LPG is illegal and punishable under relevant provisions of law, adding that strict action will be initiated against anyone found involved in such activities.
It further informed that booking of domestic LPG is done through a digital system and delivery is carried out using a Delivery Authentication Code. Booking of refills is permitted after a gap of 25 days as a measure to prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution among consumers.
The department appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining orderly distribution and adhering to the prescribed norms.
