Nagaland: Government lists select urban sector services, shops in outskirts, neighborhoods to open

Big market complexes like Hongkong Market, New Market, BOC Market to stay closed

Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has issued an order reopening, partially, a number of urban sector services such as heavy motor repairs, and neighborhood shops and retail establishments.

Business establishments in crowded areas “which offer no scope for enforcing satisfactory social distancing” such as Hongkong Market and New Markel in Dimapur town, and BOC Market in Kohima etc shall remain closed.

Likewise, establishments such as salons, dine-in restaurants, eateries and departmental stores shall remain closed.

The chief secretary’s office issued a notice on Saturday, April 25, stating the stipulations.

However, the government has ordered the establishments to implement a number of precautions such as using only 50% strength of workers, making available sanitizers to staff and customers, and adhering to social distancing norms, and wearing masks.

Open

  • Shops for truck repairs along highways. Stipulated minimum distancing should be adhered to.
  • Open outside urban areas: All shops including shops in residential complexes and market complexes outside the limits of municipality and town councils. Must work with 50 % strength of workers, wear masks and mandatory social distancing.
  • All shops including neighborhood shops and stand-alone shops, shops in residential complexes within the limits of municipalities and town councils, except shops in market complexes, multi-brand and single brand malls. Must work with 50% strength of workers, and wear masks.
  • Home deliveries from dine-in restaurants, food outlets, and delivery of online orders of essential commodities shall be permitted.

Remain closed    

  • Shops located in crowded areas “which offer no scope for enforcing satisfactory social distancing,” like Hongkong Market and New Markel in Dimapur town, and BOC Market in Kohima etc., shall remain closed except shops/outlets dealing with food grains, vegetables, food items, medicines and other essential items and goods.

    District deputy commissioners are to study and assess such locations and issue suitable orders in this regard, the government stated.
     
  • Salons, dine-in restaurants, eateries and departmental stores shall continue to remain closed. However, home deliveries from dine-in restaurants, food outlets, and delivery of online orders of essential commodities shall be permitted.
  • Proprietors of shops and establishments that have been allowed to open will make arrangements for keeping hand sanitizers or provide facilities for hand washing with soap and water for the public as well as for the establishments’ staff and workers.
  • The proprietors of the shops and establishments should also get the door handles, surfaces and other objects, which are frequently touched by people, regularly cleaned and disinfected.

However, the protocol for social distancing must be ensured as has been specified in the lock down measures of the National COVID-19 Directives and Standard Operating Procedure, the government states.
