State Bank of India conducted an awareness programme on salary package benefits for government employees in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — An awareness programme on the state government salary package was held at the DIPR conference hall, Kohima, on May 8, organised by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations in collaboration with the State Bank of India.
Resource person Sonia Bhuyan, Corporate Salary Relationship Manager, SBI Administrative Office, Jorhat, explained the key features and benefits of the SBI Salary Package Account for government employees, a DIPR report stated.
Bhuyan was accompanied by Alan Haokip, Branch Manager, SBI Treasury Branch, Kohima.
The bank official explained that the package offers a zero-balance account with no requirement of maintaining a QAB. Customers receive a free debit card with no annual charges and unlimited free transactions at SBI ATMs.
Other benefits include free NEFT/RTGS transfers, no charges on demand drafts, and up to 50% discount on locker rent. An auto-sweep facility is also available for better interest earnings, along with free SMS alerts, she informed.
Under protection benefits, the package provides Personal Accidental Insurance (PAI) cover up to INR 110 lakh, including coverage during duty and off-duty (including incidents like snake bites).
Air Accidental Insurance is available up to INR 2.6 crore. A term life insurance cover up to INR 10 lakh is included, along with top-up health insurance for employees and dependents at low premiums.

In case of emergencies, additional support includes education cover up to INR 10 lakh, girl child marriage supports up to INR 10 lakh, air ambulance covers up to INR 10 lakh, imported medicine transport up to INR 5 lakh, and family transportation and ambulance charges up to INR 50,000 each and cost of plastic surgery or burn cases up to INR 10 lakh.
Coverage for permanent total disability up to INR 1 crore and partial disability up to INR 80 lakh is also provided, Bhuyan stated.
Further, lifestyle benefits linked to the RuPay debit card include up to 12 airport lounge visits, 1-year OTT subscriptions (Amazon Prime/Zee5/SonyLIV), 3 months Swiggy One membership, and one annual health check-up.
Additional perks include spa benefits, golf access, and purchase protection up to INR 2 lakh.
A comprehensive package of financial and lifestyle benefits has been introduced for permanent employees under five categories - Rhodium (above INR 2 lakh), Platinum (INR 1–2 lakh), Diamond (INR 50,000–INR 1 lakh), Gold (INR 25,000 - 50,000), and Silver (INR 10,000–25,000).
Members have to ensure that the account has a registered nominee and that submission of the death certificate and post-mortem report is mandatory to avail the benefits.
The sensitisation session was also carried out at the Directorates of Fire & Emergency Services, Urban development, Municipal Affairs and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Service.
The resource person also informed that pensioners are covered under comprehensive salary package.
The programme was chaired by Simon I Teilia, Joint Director, IPR.
