Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): The All Nagaland Government College Teachers’ Association has expressed concern over the Nagaland University’s decision, as per UGC guidelines, to conduct final semester examinations in September this year.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the association said that the Covid-19 pandemic scenario is becoming alarming day by day; hence human life and safety can never be compromised at any cost.

“Therefore prior to examination schedule, authority should ensure safety gear and social distancing norms to all the exam centres. Besides, inter-districts free movement are restricted, students returning to their rented houses and hostels pose a major social problem which needs to be addressed univocally with district administration and civil societies for the greater interest of the students and teaching community.

“Therefore, if means of safety standard is not ensure to both students and teachers then, the University should postpone examination till the situation is improved. We also feel for the students, that exam mania should not be compounded with pandemic psychosis,” read the statement.
