Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): As per the directive of the state government, the Dimapur district administration on Tuesday began Covid relief work by distributing food items to daily wage earners and labourers who were affected by the lockdown.

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan flagged off the relief work at Holy Cross School Auditorium.

He said that Nagaland government has taken stock of the situation, considering that lot of daily wage earners and labourers are suffering as life has come to a standstill due to the lockdown.

The government has taken cognisance of the need to help those in need and has taken the decision to provide free dry ration to 7,000 households in Dimapur district, he said. ‘And basing on that, we made arrangement and starting the distribution today (on Tuesday),’ he added.

“We are giving equal importance to all areas including both urban and rural and so, definitely this will be a welcome relief and timely help to those daily wage earners and labourers who have been affected because of the lockdown,” he stated.

He went on to say that they were providing immediate help for now, and even in the coming days if the situation demands, the government would take decision again after seeing the demands.
