Nagaland got ‘Best State Award’ in health, agriculture

NAGALAND was awarded ‘The Best Performing Small State Category in Health and Agriculture’ of the 11th India Today Award on December 20 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, New Delhi. According to a press communique, the over all best performing state in the big state category was awarded to Kerala state ollowed by Goa in small state category. The 11th India Today Award was held with superlative achievements in Education, Micro-economy, Agriculture, Consumer market and Investment. The function was graced by Jairam Ramesh, union minister for Rural Development, Govt. of India, on behalf of the state chief minister, Niephiu Rio.The state was represented by Kuzholuzo Neinu, minister for Road and Bridges and Parliamentary Affairs and Dr Benjongliba Aier, parliamentary secretary for Agriculture, Rajiv Bansal, principal secretary and Joyti Kalash, Resident Commisioner (RC), Nagaland House and staff, New Delhi.
The awards given to the various states in different sector for big state category- Agriculture -Rajasthan, Education- Kerala, Health-Himachal Pradesh, Governance – Andhra Pradesh, Infrastruture- J&K, Consumer market- Haryana, Investment -Himachal Pradesh, Micro-economy – Gujarat and for the small state category award, Agriculture-Nagaland, Education-Goa, Health – Nagaland, Governance -Tripura, Infrastructure – Goa, Consumer market – Goa, Investment-Goa, Micro – economy-Goa.
The jury for the best Disaster Management was awarded to Odisha state. After the award there was a panel of discussion on how to take the country forward in the development sector by implimenting good governing policies as good performers are always voted by the voters.
