Nagaland, land where I belong. A land where Christianity dominates all other religions. A state known to the outsiders as Christian state. What strikes your mind then when we talk about a Christian state? We cannot expect a heaven like situation in Nagaland but why not a state free from all sort of ungodly activities? You go ask anybody about the situation in Nagaland, people will barely throw good comments. Not because people are negative but everywhere it is openly visible. Well, by writing this, i don't term all people as bad as some people are in Nagaland. But as per my humble observation, our activities seems contradicting with the Christian principles. We say Nagaland is for Christ but we continue to live like Pagans. We call ourselves to be for Christ but talk about corruption, killing, extortion, greed, etc, Nagaland is at the top. Talk about humility, its on the verge of extinction. Churches in Nagaland are often rising against each other instead of working and sacrificing for Christ. Forget about sacrificing, we cannot even speak the truth. Tribalism again has become a threat to Naga unity. My tribe, your tribe is often echoed in all corners called 'Nagaland'. The question here is how are we going to sacrifice for Christ when we cannot even unite ourselves as one? What about our freedom fighters? They used mask at the barrel of their guns to procure money in the name of Nagaland for Christ. Instead of using guns to protect their people, they used guns against their own people to procure money. Election? Tell me who can win election without money in Nagaland? People do not even care about the capabilities of the candidates but simply vote for the ones who gives the most money. Such is our mentality and now look at our leaders, how corrupted and greedy they have become, and we call it Nagaland for Christ. Now, the question is, are we really for Christ or Money? Nagaland is in a mess. Naga society is becoming a money loving society. The craze of the people for money has only made the whole thing worst in Nagaland. I believe Christianity is not a religion of hate, selfish, greed or war and therefore, we Nagas should realise that we are for Christ and stop being hypocritical. Or shall we still claim that the whole present unhealthy situation of Nagaland are for Christ? Its high time we start living the way God always wanted us to.
Exodus 20:7 says You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. And therefore, the Nagas cannot misuse the name of Christ in the name of the slogan 'Nagaland for Christ.' Furthermore, no one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both money and God (Mathew 6:24). So, its about choosing God or money. The choice is ours. Nagas cannot be both for Christ and money. Therefore, let us all be wise enough and henceforth change our mindsets towards making a better and prosperous Nagaland. And, eventually and most importantly fulfill the promise 'Nagaland for Christ.'
