Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): Nagaland fondly remembered Subhas Chandra Bose, popularly known as Netaji, on his 125th birth anniversary on January 23 by organising various events across the state. Subhash Chandra Bose was an Indian nationalist who attempted to rid India of British rule during World War II with the help of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
In Phek district, the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was celebrated at Chesezu village with the presence of village leaders and an associate of Netaji named Vezo Swuro, now aged 93.
Vezo Swuro, who was associated with Netaji, shared a brief experience and history of how Netaji spent his stay at Chesezu.
In his speech, Kejaroko Pieru, proprietor of Pier Tours, Kohima, thanked the villagers on behalf of Indiatourism for accepting the proposal to celebrate the anniversary at Chesezu. He also shared the prospects on how Chesezu could become an eco-tourism destination and further expressed his willingness to support the village in the years to come.
Muleyi Khesoh, former chairman of Chesezu village council, thanked Indiatourism for choosing Chesezu village to observe the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji. He also acknowledged Indiatourism for inspiring the community especially the upcoming generation to carry on the legacies and history of Netaji.
While maintaining all Covid-19 pandemic guidelines, around 45 participants including 13 school students have participated in the art competition on the theme "Netaji at Chesezu".
On the occasion, Rapra Swuro and Thiyiveyi Nyekha presented a special folk tune about Netaji and the Japanese at Chesezu, while Nuvetalu Nyekha and Nukhrutalu Nyekha sang about the legacy and history left behind by Netaji at Chesezu. The programme was chaired by Vesezo Ringa.
In a similar programme, the Netaji Subash Kala Kendra (NSKK), an organisation for Netaji birthday celebration committee, at Railway Netaji Colony in Dimapur and Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Subash Chandra Bose on January 23.
The celebration at Railway Netaji Colony was marked by presentation of songs in honour of Netaji by NSKK students namely Sucharita Mahajan, Ritika Chakraborty along with others.
An update from the organisation stated that the program began with a welcome speech delivered by NSKK principal Sushanta Bhattacharjee, while the national flag was hoisted by Sabooj Sharma, head cashier of Canara Bank,
Dimapur Branch. It was followed with garlanding and lighting of candles by dignitaries and members.
It stated that the dignitaries and seniors members spoke on the life of Netaji Subash Bose and also motivated the youth to unite and follow his ideals.
The speakers have also advised the youth not to forget their rich cultures and traditions.
Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, observed the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the school auditorium.
An update from the school stated that the programme began with the universal peace prayer, which was followed with garlanding the portrait of Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
During the programme, the school’s principal Monoj Bhattacharjee delivered a short speech followed by a group song presented by the school’s teachers. Gitashree Bhattacharjee also presented a song.
The senior most teacher Ranu Purkayastha also delivered a motivational speech and concluded with the singing of INA national anthem by the students.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur Bongs celebrated Parakram Diwas to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on January 23 at its office premises.
Ganesh Sharma, advisor of Dimapur Bongs, who is also the superintendent of DMC, delivered a speech highlighting the contribution of Bose towards the freedom struggle of India. He also urged the youth members and the children to "feel proud about their rich culture".
Also speaking on the occasion, Juel Acherjee, senior member of Dimapur Bongs, urged the school going children to "focus on their goals and march ahead with a positive attitude".
Various patriotic dances and songs were presented to mark the importance of the day. The Sargam band also performed various patriotic numbers to pay a tribute to Bose, it added.
