Nagaland: Financial inclusion melas held in Wokha

Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN):  Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) Changpang Block under Wokha district conducted Financial Inclusion Mela in two clusters, one at Changpang Block Office on February 5 for Changpang Circle and the other on February 6 for Aitepyong Circle.

This was informed by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Changpang Block through a press release.

The Financial Inclusion Mela for Aitepyong Circle was organised by BMMU Changpang Block, department of Rural Development Wokha, at Community Hall Akuk Old, wherein BPM Myingthungo Ezung in his keynote address gave an overview of NSRLM under the Block and encouraged the SHG members to work together with dedication for a sustainable living.

Ezung also requested the villagers to support and encourage women of the block to avail the benefits.

Village Council chairman of Akuk Old village thanked the NSRLM BMMU Changpang Block staff for bringing bankers and line departments at their door steps for their benefits, while block project officer social welfare Sanis Block Zubemo Yanthan spoke on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and other schemes available in the department.

The update from NSRLM went on to say that supervisor of Medical department Anthony Yanthan spoke on malaria while manager of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Wokha Masheto Nandu spoke on importance of banking relationship, bank linkage and social security schemes.

The programme was attended by 226 SHG members, seven stakeholders, eight BMMU staff, and three resource persons from bank and line departments. A total of 15 individual accounts were opened during the occasion.

A similar programme was conducted by BMMU Changpang Block for Changpang Circle at Block Office Changpang on February 5.

The update informed that SO II RD Block Changpang spoke on MGNREGA scheme, while supervisor social welfare Bhandari Block Ralithung spoke on PMMVY and other schemes; BPM national health mission Disahi Vadeo shared on benefits of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY); and assistant manager of State Bank of India, Bhandari Branch, Rajesh Purkayastha on banking-related topics.

A total of 11 individual accounts were opened during the occasion that was attended by 197 SHG members, eight Stakeholders, eight BMMU staff, and four resource persons from bank and  line departments.

Financial inclusion mela for Sanis circle

NSRLM BMMU Sanis block has informed through a press release that Financial Inclusion Mela was conducted at Sanis Town Community Hall on February 4 for Sanis circle, covering 13 villages with 89 Self-help Groups (SHG). A total of 350 SHG members reportedly attended the programme.

BDO cum BMM RD Sanis Block B Wakhao J Konyak emphasised on MGNERGA and encouraged the womenfolk to strive for the welfare of the community as they play a crucial role in uplifting the society at the grassroots level. The update went on to state that he encouraged the SHG members to fully utilise various avenues provided to them so that they can not only attend self-sufficiency but also contribute to the economy of their community for a self-reliant society.

Resource person for the event, Tiken Singh, Lead Bank Officer (LBO) Wokha, while highlighting social security scheme on PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY, insisted the SHG members to avail the benefits provided to them by the banks and government so that they will be more secure in terms of their health and future.

Speaking on PMMVY scheme, representative from Social Welfare dept. and block coordinator T Zubemo Yanthan informed the gathering that wage compensation is given to women for the wage loss during child birth and child care under the scheme. A woman of 19 years and above can avail the scheme for the first child birth. He further stated the scheme can be registered from Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Anganwadi in the village.

BPM Sanis block Chumchithung Ngullie delivered the keynote address while AC-FI Phyochamo Tsopoe gave an overview of Sanis Block. The programme was followed by bank account opening and filling up of social security scheme with the assistance of DC-FI, Wokha, Orentsani Kithan, and Sakhi of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB).
