
The Combat Academy team from Nagaland after their stellar
display performance at the Agrani Fight Night Amateur Tournament in Kolkata.
- DIMAPUR — Fighters from The Combat Academy,
Nagaland, put on a stellar display of grit and talent at the Agrani Fight Night
Amateur Tournament, held on April 19 and 20 in Kolkata.
- Under the guidance of head coach Khriemelie Metha, the team
of five amateur athletes represented Nagaland, competing against top fighters
from across the country, the academy stated in an update.
- The Combat Academy fielded five fighters, including Vivoto Tsukru
(23, Featherweight), Petevino Suokhrie (22, Female Flyweight), Thanmi Angkang
(29, Flyweight), Wungvamsem Raman (Bantamweight) and Imkummendang Ozukum
(Bantamweight).
- Despite a setback on day one with Imkummendang Ozukum
pulling out due to a medical injury just before his scheduled bout, the
remaining fighters carried the Nagaland flag high with a string of impressive
performances.
- Vivoto Tsukru emerged as one of the standout fighters of the
tournament. He began his campaign with a dominant first-round submission
victory via Rear Naked Choke (RNC) and followed it up on day two with a
second-round TKO win. He capped off the weekend by winning the finals, securing
a well-deserved gold medal in the featherweight division.
- In the female flyweight category, Petevino Suokhrie made a
strong impression with a clinical TKO victory via a cross to the body, earning
her a gold medal.
- Thanmi Angkang, competing in the men’s flyweight division,
showed his grappling prowess with a submission win by RNC. He advanced to the
finals, where he fought hard but settled for silver after a closely contested
match.

- Wungvamsem Raman, despite a valiant effort, was unable to
progress further in the tournament.
- “The Combat Academy continues to build and develop promising
martial artists from Nagaland, playing a crucial role in putting Northeast
India on the MMA map,” the update stated.
