Veteran footballers from Nagaland have departed for Pune to compete in the 8th National Masters Games, fielding teams in 40+ and 50+ categories.

MOKOKCHUNG — A contingent comprising 16 veteran footballers from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League, accompanied by a coach and team manager, has departed for Pune to represent Nagaland in the 8th National Masters Games, scheduled from January 27 to the 31st.
Organised by the Super Masters Games and Sports Federation of India, the event serves as a platform for master’s athletes aged 30 and above.
Nagaland will field three men's football teams in the competition: the 40+ category teams from Dimapur (Team A) and Mokokchung (Team B), alongside a 50+ team from Kohima.
The 40+ Mokokchung squad is captained under the stewardship of team manager Tatongrenla and coach Mohan Ram Bhadu. According to an update, the team conducted rigorous training sessions and participated in exhibition matches against the Morning Premier League from Kohima.

The team's official jersey was unveiled on January 24 by Vesupra Kezo, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.
In addition to football, the 8th National Masters Games will feature competitions in hockey, yoga, athletics, kabaddi, powerlifting, swimming, weightlifting, arm wrestling, volleyball, and badminton.
The Mokokchung 40+ squad includes N Jamonger Ao, N Chuba Phom, Lanuchuba Walling, Sentiyanger, Tsüpongtsüba, Tiayanger, Chumaksangba, Tiatoshi Imchen, Zululemba Ao, Repamangyang, Imliyapang Jamir, L Moakaba, Talilepba Jamir, Onentoshi, Chubangangnen Imchen, and Sakutemjen Ao.
