Kohima, Nov. 28 (EMN): In Nagaland, female beneficiaries of the central flagship scheme PM-Kisan have outnumbered male, with the former accounting for more than fifty percent registration for the scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was formally launched on February 24, 2019, with an aim to provide income support to all landholding farmers’ families across the country. Under the scheme, an amount of INR 6000 per year is transferred in three equal instalments of INR 2000 directly to the bank accounts of the farmers.

According to the PM-Kisan website, as of November 27, the total number of beneficiaries in Nagaland was 213,608, against the expected data of 192,283.

There are as many as 108,629 (52.7%) female beneficiaries against 97,427 (47.3%) male beneficiaries. The data showed that women farmers are taking the lead in the state by 5.4%.
