Nagaland experiences good rainfall

DIMAPUR — The Soil and Water Conservation department has informed that Nagaland is experiencing good rainfall as compared to record during the past 10 years.

According to the rainfall data recorded by the department of Soil and Water Conservation department, the state as a whole received a total rainfall of 5697.0mm in the month of June which was more comparing to the average rainfall of 4304.5mm recorded during the past 10 years.

It stated that the average maximum temperature of the state hovered at 27.6°C and average minimum temperature stands at 20°C.

Except for Meluri and Kiphire observatories, the rest 15 meteorological observatories of Nagaland recorded adequate rainfall during this period. It informed that Mon district received the highest amount of rainfall at 543.0mm followed by Sechu in Kohima with 536.4 mm. Comparatively, Dimapur received abundance rainfall of 472.3mm in the 30 days (June), while the average rainfall in the same month recorded during the last few years stood at 159.3mm. The state capital Kohima recorded 271.9mm of rainfall in June.
