Nagaland election 2023: Prohibitory order clamped in Zunheboto

Zunheboto District Magistrate Rahul Bhanudas Mali has issued an order under section 144 CrPC, prohibiting assembly of five or more persons and vehicular movement of non-essential nature in as many as six constituencies in the district ahead of the state assembly poll.

The prohibitory order has been clamped in the areas comprising of 31-Akuluto AC, 32-Atoizu AC, 33-Suruhoto AC, 34-Aghunato AC, 35-Zunheboto AC and 36-Satakha AC under Zunheboto district till 5 pm on February 27.

“Further, in the area of the DC Office Complex and 100 meters in its vicinity including the Zunheboto Public Ground, the assembly of five or more persons shall be prohibited at all times till further orders,” read the order.

“The officials and staff of district administration, security personnel, magistrate on duty, medical personnel, and persons engaged in election duty/essential services shall be exempted.

“All movement of commercial vehicles (goods/passengers) or vehicles carrying essential commodities, press and media, telecom services, and medical emergencies shall also be exempted from the above restrictions,” it added.

The order came two days after the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, issued a similar prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC in 37-Tyui and 38- Wokha assembly constituencies to prevent untoward incidents in the areas. However, order prohibits assembly of five or more persons and vehicular movement of non-essential nature from 5 pm to 5 am in the two assembly seats till March 3. Dimapur, Feb. 25 (EMN)
