Nagaland Election 2023: Polling to be held on Feb. 27

Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): The Election Commission of India (ECI), on Wednesday, announced that the Assembly polls in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held on February 27, while Tripura will go to the polls on February 16.
The counting of votes for all the three states will be held on March 2. This was informed in a press conference by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Rajiv Kumar along with the two election commissioner and other officials of the ECI in New Delhi.
A total of 62.8 lakh voters in the three states including 13, 09,651 voters from Nagaland will cast their vote.
While the term of the present Nagaland Legislative Assembly ends on March 12, the terms of the Meghalaya and Tripura assemblies will end on March 15 and March 22 respectively.
The CEC also highlighted that there were more female turnout in the last election and more female voters than males in the three states, which is commendable and an example for the rest of the country.
In Nagaland, the female voter turnout was 86% against 81% male in the last election.
The ECI announced the dates following its visit to the three states from Jan. 11 and 15th and after consulting with the respective states agencies.
The three state assemblies have a strength of 60 members each.
