Nagaland duo gears up for Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai

KOHIMA — Two athletes from Nagaland– Jemie P and Jemie Y– will be representing Nagaland at the Khelo India Youth Games 2024 in the race discipline from January 23 to the 25th at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Both athletes belong to the eastern region of Nagaland and Jemie P will compete in the 400-metre category while Jemie Y will participate in the 3000-metre event.

The two athletes were accompanied by coach Khriezotuonuo Theunuo and two technical officials including Kenongoto Thokhwe and Tsiejise, who were selected by the Athletics Federation of India. The technical officials were trained by the Nagaland Athletic Association and were invited by the AFI to be technical officials in the National Athletics meets, it was informed.

Notably, over 5600 athletes from across the country are competing at the Khelo India Youth Games 2024, which began on Jan. 19 and will culminate on Jan. 31. Tamil Nadu is hosting the sixth edition of the KIYG 2024 across four locations.

Athletes from different states are competing to secure a total of 933 medals in various disciplines.
