DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has issued a public alert ahead of the by-election to 28–Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency, urging citizens to report smuggling and illicit activities that could influence the electoral process.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the DRI’s Guwahati Zonal Unit under the Ministry of Finance has been designated as the nodal agency of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) for the by-election in Nagaland.
The agency stated that it will play a key role during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct by monitoring and preventing the movement of contraband items and illicit trade that may disrupt free and fair elections.

Members of the public have been asked to remain vigilant and report information related to smuggling of goods, narcotics, gold, foreign currency, wildlife items and other illegal activities.
The DRI informed that individuals providing specific and actionable inputs leading to detection or seizure would be eligible for rewards under existing government policies, while assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.

The by-election to the 28–Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency is scheduled to be held on April 9.
