Nagaland: Dimapur registers 53 crime cases under IPC in October

Dimapur, Oct. 30 (EMN): Dimapur registered a total of 53 cases related to crimes under Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the month of October and 39 people were arrested in connection with these cases.

An update from the deputy commissioner of police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur informed that two murder cases were registered in the month, and another two cases related to kidnapping and abduction, while 14 were arrested in relation to these cases.

It stated that a total of 28 theft cases; three burglary, seven extortion, two criminal breach of trust, four cheating, two incidents of rash driving and one case of cruelty by husband or relatives were registered in the month.

Regarding crimes under special and local law, 18 cases were registered and 23 people arrested. These cases include one under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, nine under Arms Act, two under NLTP Act, four under NDPS Act, and two under the Foreigners Act.

The report stated that a total of five cases were registered under seizure of contrabands like IMFL (6899 bottles), heroin (500 gram), brown sugar (130 gram), tablets (19,000) and 6,723  (capsules). Eight people were arrested in connection to these cases.

The report went on to inform that a total of 16 cases were registered under extortion and Arms Act. In connection with these cases, 22 people — 16 “undergrounds” and six “others” – were arrested, informed the update.

It added that 21 arms, 211 ammunition, INR 2,17,380 cash (suspected extortion money) , three vehicles and two RT handsets were seized.
