Mokokchung, Sep. 16 (EMN): District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Mokokchung celebrated its fresher’s day at its auditorium on September 16 on the theme “Hon-ü Dük Aokpü” (Prism of possibilities).

Speaking at the programme, the institute’s vice principal, Temsuwabang, said, “Teaching is the mother of all professions” and reminded the importance of teaching and the impact a teacher can have on an individual.

Citing a quote, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for lifetime,” he stated that teachers should assist the students in becoming professional skilled teachers.

The vice principal further urged the freshers to work hand-in-hand with the faculty and colleagues stating that it would benefit them in learning and achieving the goal of becoming professional teachers.

Speaking on behalf of the freshers, Moasenla stated that teachers are among the most underrated professionals in the state. She, however, stated that teachers are the ones to mould children, who are the future leaders. She went on to state that teachers should be well versed in the use of technology to be able to teach efficiently.

During the programme, Lanuteka and Temjenmenla Longkumer were crowned the Mister and Miss freshers.
