Nagaland: DGC students trained on disaster management

Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): An intensive programme on disaster management was conducted at Dimapur Government College premises by a team of 16 personnel led by Hav. Lipoksashi from Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dimapur.
An update from the college media cell stated that Hav. Lipoksashi explained in detail on the importance of disaster management and also the need to have knowledge about precautions and disaster preparedness in the aftermath of disaster.
The session began with a mock drill which was participated by all the students. It was followed by a two-hour long practical session in relation to four major concerns in the event of disaster like earthquakes, fire, floods etc. It included CPR/ choking, emergency methods of rescue, bandaging and splinting.
The students were also made to go through the drills to make better sense of the disaster management.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor Selina Walling, HoD, department of EVS. The rationale of the programme was shared by assistant professor Biswajit Sarkar, HoD of Commerce, and the vote of thanks was pronounced by assistant professor N Temjenmeren, convenor of disaster management committee of the college.
The programme was organised by the disaster management committee of the college and sponsored by the IQAC.
