Nagaland: DC Kohima informs electors for bye-election
Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab has directed all the electors under the 14-Southern Angami-I assembly constituency, who have been issued EPICs to produce the same for identification at the polling station before casting their votes.
The DC informed this in pursuance to the notification earlier issued by the Election Commission of India in view of the ensuing bye-election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14-Southern Angami –I A/C, a DIPR report stated.
Those electors, who are not able to produce the EPIC are asked to produce one of the following alternative photo identity for establishing their identity namely Aadhaar card, MGNREGA job card, passbooks with photograph issued by bank/ post office, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of ministry of Labour, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian passport, pension document with photograph, service identity card with photograph issued to employees by central/ state government/ PSUs/ public limited companies, and official identity cards issued to MPs/ MLAs/ MLCs.
It mentioned that photo voter slip would not be accepted as a stand-alone identification document for voting, though it would be prepared and issued to electors. Electors are, therefore, required to carry EPIC or one of the 11 alternative documents as specified above by the Commission for voting.
The poll would take place on November 3 between 6 am to 4 pm.
