KOHIMA — Fifteen darters from Nagaland will be participating in two major national dart events in Kolkata and Varanasi from July 17 to the 21st.

The Nagaland Darts Association (NDA) announced this in Kohima on Tuesday during the launch of the jersey for Nagaland players for the upcoming events.

Of the 15 darters, 13 will participate in the 10th BRC Summer Darts Open Championship, scheduled to take place from July 17 to the 21st in Kolkata. The event is organised by the Bengal Rowing Club in collaboration with the Indian Darts Council.

The players will compete in various categories at the event, in which participants from across the country and abroad are expected to take part.

While darters from the state participated in such events before, the association stated that this year’s participation will feature the largest contingent to date and will be the strongest and most prepared.

Also, from July 19 to the 21st in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, two darters from the state will compete in an All India Darts Association (AIDA) event in three major categories.

The categories include the All India Ranking Darts Championship 2024, selection for the WDF Asia-Pacific Cup 2024 (scheduled for November 2 to the 6th, 2024, in Taipei, China), and the Police Cup for selection to participate in “The Games of Heroes”—the World Police and Fire Games 2025.

It was mentioned that nearly all the players are self-sponsored and supported by a handful of well-wishers, charity, and token contributions from the association.

Meanwhile, the NDA lauded Dynamic School of Darts and Team One Nagaland for hosting year-long monthly tournaments. It noted that these initiatives have improved the performance of darters in general and the game of darts in Nagaland.
