Nagaland cuts 20% of non-development expenditure to provide free Covid-19 vaccine

Nagaland government has made pro-rata cuts of 20% under non-development expenditure from the Budget Estimates 2021-22 to mobilise additional funds for providing free Covid-19 vaccine and other Covid-related activities.

As per a 'budget and monitoring cell' of the state Finance department's office memorandum issued on Thursday, pro-rata cuts of 20% would be made in all departments for the following expenditure items -- travel expenses, office expense, motor vehicles, and maintenance.

"In view of the emerging requirements for mobilising additional funds for providing free Covid-19 vaccine and other Covid-19 related activities, the government hereby directs that there shall be pro-rata cuts of 20% under Non-Development from the Budget Estimates 2021- 22 in respect of all departments for the following expenditure items --Travel Expenses, Office Expense, Motor Vehicles, and Maintenance," it stated.

Signed by Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen, it informed that the office memorandum had been issued on the approval of the chief minister in pursuance of the Cabinet’s decision conveyed by the Cabinet Secretariat vide their letter No. CAB-2/2013 dated April 28 2021.

It further advised the departments to obtain revised DDO-wise sub-allotment of fund incorporating the reduced amount under travel expenses.
