Nagaland Covid-19 update: Nine more tested positive; tally stands at 58

Dimapur, June 3 (EMN): Nine more returnees from Chennai tested positive for Covid-19 at the bio-safety level-3 (BSL-3) virology lab in Kohima on Wednesday, June 3, taking the total number of positive cases in Nagaland to 58.

Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha informed through his daily briefing that all the positive patients are receiving medical care at the designated Covid-19 hospitals and active surveillance has been taken up to prevent further spreading of the infection.

‘Our of 115 samples tested, nine more returnees from Chennai tested Covid-19 positive,’ Health minister S Pangnyu Phom also tweeted on Wednesday morning.

Sinha informed that out of 3,313 Covid-19 suspected samples been tested so far, results of 1,959 samples have come and 58 of them were positive, while results of 1,354 samples are awaited.

Through the TrueNat testing machine, a total of 101 samples have been tested so far and all returned negative, the update said, adding that a total of 4,110 persons are under facility quarantine.

“A total of  14105 citizens have signed up in the nCOVID-19 Nagaland – Visitors App since 23rd March 2020 and in the last 14 days, 2696 persons have submitted their travel self declaration. At present 2844 persons are being digitally monitored through the App,” the update informed.

It went on to inform that the number of stranded people from Nagaland, who have decided to stay back in their respective places and availed the one-time assistance of INR 10,000 has risen to 13,018, amounting to INR 13.018 crore.
