Nagaland Covid-19 update: 38 new cases take state’s tally to 3558

Dimapur, Aug. 19 (EMN): Nagaland recorded 38 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s tally to 3558.

This was informed by the minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom.

“38 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected out of 615 samples tested.29 in  Dimapur, 7 in Kohima and 1 each in Kiphire and Wokha. Necessary contact tracing have been activated,” the minister tweeted.

According daily briefing from Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, the state currently has 1,838 active cases, out of which three are moderate, 1,706 recoveries and seven deaths.

“Further, out of the 3,558 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are: 1,561 cases from armed forces, 1,189 cases from returnees, 238 cases from frontline workers, 516 cases from traced contacts and 54 cases of others,” read the update.

“A total of 32,906 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 31,509 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 21,317 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat. A total of 1,647 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” it added.

In regard to district-wise distribution of Covid-19 cases, Dimapur leads with 1070 active cases, followed by Kohima – 605, Mon – 72, Zunheboto – 65, Peren – 14, three each in Wokha and Tuensang, Mokokchung – 2, and Kiphire – 1.

Longleng and Phek are currently coronavirus-free.
