DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has condemned the capital punishment order issued by the Khango-led NSCN (K) on one of its member M/s K. Rulhou over ‘non-payment of tax’ to the faction. It also demanded the group to immediately withdraw its decision.

Terming it as “inhuman”, the union said in a press release that they have been faced with ‘multiple taxations by Naga groups on the pretext of Naga national workers for past many decades’.

‘However, while the Naga political issue continues to remain unresolved, the inner bitterness and splits within the Naga groups has only increased the burden of taxation not only on the bonafide members of the NCSU but also the general public,’ it said.

“Moreover, such dangerous decision of death penalty within the Naga family is uncalled for and totally not acceptable in a civilized society,” it added.

The NCSU reaffirmed its resolution passed in May this year, that its bonafide members

‘should be exempted from all forms of unabated taxation by Naga political groups’ and state legislators, as well as collection in the name of political party fund, which directly compromises workmanship.

The union also requested the state government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action against the groups involved and ensure the safety of its member and his family.

The Tenyimi Youth Organisation Dimapur (TYOD) has also condemned the death penalty issued by the NSCN (K) Khango group, describing it as “criminal and extremist act”. It also appealed to the law enforcement agency to book the culprits and punish as per the law of the land.
