DC Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang flags off Nagaland's 36-member contingent for the National Youth Festival in New Delhi.

DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, flagged off the Nagaland contingent bound for the National Youth Festival, scheduled to be held from January 8 to 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in Dimapur on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering at the Youth Hostel, Dimapur, Dr. Chang said it was a matter of pride for the participants selected to represent Nagaland at the national-level event.
He noted that the National Youth Festival has been celebrated since 1995 to commemorate the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda and expressed happiness that Nagaland would be participating in various disciplines this year.
Highlighting the focus of both the Government of India and the state government on youth development, Dr. Chang said the youth are the future of the nation and have the potential to achieve great heights.

He added that exposure through this youth festival and other competitive activities would help young people become more confident and vibrant, while also bringing laurels to the state and the country.
Referring to Nagas as a people rich in cultural heritage, the DC said culture forms the core of Naga identity and wished the contingent the best for the competitions.
He stated that participation itself is a significant achievement, as the experience and knowledge gained at such festivals can be shared with others back home, motivating more youth in the days ahead.
He further remarked that education goes beyond classroom learning, and participation in diverse disciplines plays a crucial role in personal growth and future success.
Meanwhile, Kenongoto Thokhwe, district sports officer of Longleng, informed that a total of 34 participants, accompanied by two officials, would represent Nagaland, making the contingent strength 36.
He said the folk song category would be represented by Tuensang district and folk dance by Peren district, while Kohima district would represent Nagaland in declamation and painting with one participant each. In addition, 12 participants will take part in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue during the festival.
A short speech was also delivered by N Vineikholie, district youth resources officer, Dimapur, and the invocation was delivered by Tokavi Zhimomi, LDA.
