DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has refuted the claims made by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita regarding infrastructure development in Nagaland under the BJP-led government.
In a press statement, the NPCC said that while Margherita highlighted budgetary allocations, railway electrification figures and investment announcements, the people of Nagaland were more concerned with the reality they experienced every day.
It stated that development could not be measured by statistics and speeches alone, but must be reflected in completed projects and improved public infrastructure.
The NPCC alleged that despite the BJP leadership's claims about railway development in the Northeast, major railway projects in Nagaland remained incomplete.
It further stated that Dimapur Railway Station, the state's sole major railway gateway, had not received the level of modernisation and upgrade promised under various railway development initiatives.

According to the NPCC, passengers continued to face inadequate facilities while railway stations in many other parts of the country had undergone substantial transformation.
The party also expressed concern over the condition of roads across the state. It alleged that roads from Dimapur to Niuland and in several other districts were plagued by potholes, poor drainage and substandard construction.
It further claimed that many newly constructed roads had deteriorated within a short period, raising concerns over quality control, accountability and the effective utilisation of public funds.
Questioning the government's claims on infrastructure development, the NPCC asked why citizens continued to face incomplete railway projects, neglected railway infrastructure and poor road conditions if development had progressed as claimed by Margherita.
The NPCC urged the BJP government to focus on delivering tangible results instead of what it described as self-congratulatory narratives.
It also called on the government to provide a transparent status report on pending railway projects, expedite their completion, upgrade Dimapur Railway Station to modern standards, and address the deteriorating condition of roads across Nagaland.
The party stated that the people of Nagaland deserved genuine development, accountability and infrastructure that improved their daily lives, rather than "hollow claims and political propaganda."
