Nagaland CM Rio inaugurates Games Fest and Village of North East Games 2024

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday inaugurated the Games Fest and the Games Village for the much-anticipated 3rd North East Games 2024, which will be held from March 18 to the 23rd.

Sportspersons from eight North-eastern states will converge in Nagaland for the mega sporting event, which will be held in Kohima, Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts starting next week.

Accompanied by council of ministers and advisors, Rio visited the headquarters of the North East Games 2024, to oversee the preparations and ensure impeccable standards, updated Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA).

Speaking at the event, he extended his heartfelt appreciation to all participating athletes, officials, volunteers and organisers for their tireless dedication and unwavering support for the region’s biggest sporting extravaganza.

Taking to X after the programme, Rio wrote: ‘With Nagaland ready to host the 3rd North East Games 2024, happy to inaugurate the Games Village at Chümoukedima. I appreciate the North East Sports Association and Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland for their efforts to ensure the Games is successful. I extend my best wishes to all.’

Visasier Kevichüsa, pastor of Kingdom Culture Church, Dimapur, prayed for success of the event at the inauguration ceremony.

The update went on to say that “with state-of-the-art facilities and meticulous attention to detail, the Games Village exemplifies Nagaland’s dedication to providing a world-class experience for athletes and visitors alike”.
