Nagaland Chief Minister Rio attends log drum pulling ceremony of Longwa’s Chief Angh
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday attended the log drum pulling ceremony for the residence of Longwa’s Chief Angh Tonyei Phawang at Longwa village.
Rio, who was accompanied by Deputy CM Y Patton, Health and Family Welfare minister P Paiwang Konyak, legislators and other dignitaries, took to microblogging site X to update about the occasion.
Describing it as a historical practice that transcends man-made boundaries, he said that Chief Anghs from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar also attended the historic event.
“Extraordinary skill is required to carve a log drum. It represents and manifests the beliefs of age-old traditions Naga tribesmen stood for. Congratulations and best wishes to the people of Longwa village. May we grow from strength to strength in unity and harmony,” he wrote.
