Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the death of former minister Vejoi Vero, who passed away on Friday in Kohima where he was undergoing treatment.
The deceased is survived by his wife, six children and three grandchildren.
Born in 1947 at Chiepoketami village in Phek district, the former minister graduated from St. Edmunds' College in Shillong before completing LLB from Bombay University in 1976, Rio informed, adding that he was actively involved with various student unions in Shillong and Bombay (now Mumbai).
He went on to say that Vero was elected to the 4th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 19-Phek Assembly Constituency in 1976, before being re-elected in 1982 and 1987 from the same constituency and served in various capacities in several departments.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Rio stated that the deceased was known as an upright man and righteous leader, and that he was a fine gentleman and a man of conviction who always worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people.
“He will be sorely missed by one and all,” read the condolence message to the bereaved family members.
“My family joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. It is our humble prayer that Almighty God will give them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” it added.
