The Nagaland Chamber Choir (TNCC) participated at the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games and Grand Prix of the nation which was held from Oct. 21 to 28th in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
A press release mentions that altogether 74 choirs from 17 countries participated with eight choirs from India, representing in two categories viz Gospel/Spiritual category and Folklore Acapella category.
TNCC competed and won silver medals in both the categories at the Asia Pacific Championship.
In addition , the Choir also won Golden Diplomas securing direct entry to the 5th Asia pacific champion competition to be held in 2021.
Besides the competitions TNCC is also said to have performed in a friendship concert at the St Mary’s Church Colombo and was part of the Festival Stage Choir alongside 4 other choirs from Latvia, Iran, Srilanka and India at the closing Ceremony.
It was a proud yet humbling moment for TNCC to represent India, stated the release.
The team is said to have gained rich experience and perspectives to enhance and encourage choral music to a higher level of international standard, not only in Nagaland but in the country as well.
TNCC in the release has acknowledged the government of Nagaland for the part financial assistance received through the Directorate of Art and Culture, and NEC Shillong through the planning and coordination department; churches, well wishers and family members for their continued support throughout this momentous journey.
What sums up TNCC as a distinct from the rest of the competing Choir is that- “ there are moments in Life that completely demolishes our self-confidence in one’s abilities, when we realise that God has been at work all along”, the release stated.
