Nagaland: Chakhesang Wrestling Association holds change of guard ceremony

Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) held ceremony for the change of guard of its office bearers by handing over charge to the new team led by outgoing president Vezuhu Keyho to the incoming team led by incoming president Vekhozo for the tenure 2020-2024 at Ura Hotel in Kohima on September 21.

According to a press statement, despite being inducted on February 19 this year at Phek town during its 27th wrestling tournament, due to Covid-19 pandemic the change of guard ceremony was kept pending for almost eight months and the office remained suspended till date.

‘However, with the easing out the pandemic situation and opening up of unlock activities on phase wise, the CWA office will resume by maintaining provided SOP with least physical attendance,’ it read.

During a short ceremonial service, outgoing president Vezuhu Keyho highlighted the brief activities undertaken during 2016-2020 tenure. Keyho also handed over the printed book form of the association’s approved constitution to the new team.

Urging upon the new team to utilise the Constitution in letter and spirit, Keyho was optimistic that with the possession of the constitution, the association would go forward with ‘broader vision in its future endeavours.’

He further expressed his gratitude to the ‘entire Chakhesangs for reposing faith in them and allowing them to serve the office.’ He further added that the cooperation and support rendered to them will be cherished and would continue to lend a helping hand even in the future.

Incoming president Vekhozo assured to serve the office with sincerity and dedication for the larger interest of the community in general and the wrestling fraternity in particular. He sought all possible cooperation and service from the outgoing officials, it read. Vekhozo on behalf of the entire Chakhesang community extended its gratitude to Vezuhu and his team for ‘bringing out the wrestling complete structure arena during their tenure which involved huge amounts of money and congratulated them for their tireless efforts,’ it said.

The ceremony was held with all precautionary health measures. Four officials from the outgoing team and six officials from the incoming team attended the program, it added.
