Nagaland CEO assesses election preparedness

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): In connection with the upcoming general elections to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland held a meeting with enforcement departments/ agencies for assessment of election preparedness and ground situation on Friday.

An official update informed that the meeting was chaired by CEO Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar.

“It was discussed that for conducting the Legislative Assembly Election 2023 freely and fairly, there is a need to thoroughly check unfair, unhealthy and illegal means like inflow of liquor, use of money power, etc by all the concerned departments,” the update stated.

Representatives from the Police, State Excise department, State Taxes department, CISF (Dimapur Airport), Airport Authority (Dimapur Airport), IGAR (Assam Rifles), State Level Bankers Committee and officers from office of CEO, attended the meeting.

It also stated that the Election Commission of India would soon review the election preparedness with various departments and agencies.

Meanwhile, a separate update stated that the CEO also held a video conference with all the deputy commissioners and district election officers, commissioner of police, Dimapur, and superintendents of police on November 24.

The video conference was held in connection with poll preparedness for the general election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023.

The CEO apprised all the DEO and SP that thorough preparedness should be undertaken in all aspects relating to election.

State additional DGP, Renchamo Kikon, who was also present at the video conference, briefed about the requisition of central armed police forces (CAPF), logistic arrangements, communication and deployment plan of security. The DC, DEO and SP of each district also shared on their concerns, issues and preparation for the upcoming general election, it stated.
